Rental Writer Return Instructions
Thank you for renting from StenoWorks! This page explains how to return your rental writer and accessories.
Please review the section that matches your rental type.
Does My Rental Include a Prepaid Return Label?
- Basic Training / A–Z Student Rentals: Yes – a prepaid UPS return label is included.
- RENT Only writers (rented on or after December 1, 2025): Yes – a prepaid UPS return label is included.
- All other rentals (including RENT Only writers rented before December 1, 2025): No – customer is responsible for return shipping.
If you are not sure which category your rental falls into, please check your rental agreement or email
confirmation, or contact us at support@stenoworks.com.
Section 1 – Returns with a Prepaid UPS Label
This section applies to:
- Basic Training / A–Z Student Rentals, and
- RENT Only writers with rental agreements dated on or after December 1, 2025.
Step 1 – Gather Everything That Came with Your Rental
Please return the complete rental package, including (as applicable):
- Steno writer
- Tripod
- AC adapter / charger
- Realtime cables and adapters (if applicable)
- Adjustment tool (if applicable)
- Any included CDs or media (if applicable)
- Carrying case
Step 2 – Pack Your Equipment Securely
- Place the writer and all accessories inside the carrying case (if included).
- Use the original packing material if available; otherwise add sufficient padding so the equipment cannot move around in the box.
- Seal the shipping carton with strong packing tape.
Step 3 – Attach and Record Your UPS Label
- Use the prepaid UPS return label included with your rental materials.
- Firmly attach the label to the outside of the box, covering or removing any older labels.
- Write down or take a photo of the UPS tracking number for your records.
Step 4 – Drop Off at a Staffed UPS Location
- Drop your package at a staffed UPS location (such as most UPS Stores, OfficeMax, or Office Depot locations).
- When you use the prepaid label we provided, there is no charge to you at these locations.
Step 5 – We Check In Your Rental
- Once your package is received and checked in, we will send a confirmation email.
- If anything is missing or damaged, we will contact you using the information on your rental agreement.

Section 2 – Returns Without a Prepaid Label (Customer-Paid Shipping)
This section applies to:
- RENT Only writers rented before December 1, 2025, and
- Any other rental type that does not specifically include a prepaid return label.
Step 1 – Gather Everything That Came with Your Rental
Please return the complete rental package, including (as applicable):
- Steno writer
- Tripod
- AC adapter / charger
- Realtime cables and adapters (if applicable)
- Adjustment tool (if applicable)
- Any included CDs or media (if applicable)
- Carrying case
Step 2 – Pack Your Equipment Securely
- Place the writer and all accessories inside the carrying case (if included).
- Add padding around the case inside a sturdy shipping box so the contents cannot shift.
- Seal the box with strong packing tape.
Step 3 – Purchase and Attach Your Own Shipping Label
You may use UPS, FedEx, USPS, or another reliable carrier. We strongly recommend a trackable, insured
shipping method. Address your package to:

- Firmly attach your shipping label to the outside of the box.
- Keep the tracking number for your records.
Step 4 – Ship and Track Your Package
- Drop off your package at your chosen carrier’s staffed location.
- Monitor tracking to confirm delivery.
Step 5 – We Check In Your Rental
- Once we receive and inspect your rental, we will send you a confirmation email.
- Any applicable charges for missing or damaged items will be handled according to your rental agreement.
Important Notes
- Please ship your rental back on or before the due date shown on your rental agreement to avoid possible late fees.
- You are responsible for the equipment until it is delivered to StenoWorks, so we strongly recommend using insurance and keeping your tracking number.
- If you cannot locate your prepaid label (for rentals that include one), email us at
support@stenoworks.com and we will help you with next steps.
